- Name: Alchemy Ale
- Brewery: Widmer Brothers Brewing (Portland, Oregon, USA)
- Style: Pale Ale
- ABV: 5.8%
- Review number: 3
- My score: 3.0 / 5.0
Appearance
The nice effect produced by the amber color of the Alchemy Ale is, to my opinion, minimized by it clearness. At first glance, this beer looks light.
There was very little foam when I poured the beer in the glass, but I can see a lot of bubbles inside.
Taste
This beer is hoppy. Not the hoppiest I have ever tried, but definitely hoppy. It does not bother me while having my first sip, but this might change along the sips.
The Alchemy Ale has a light body, not a big taste or character, but it is not unpleasant either as you can feel the floral and citrusy hops, as well as a very slight taste of caramel.
Mouthfeel
This beer is thin but not watery. It has some carbonation, clearly present without being over-carbonated. Finally, it definitely leaves a hoppy feel on the palate.
Overall
The Alchemy Ale is not a great beer, and probably not one I will remember, but among the numerous Pale Ale around here, this one is okay. I would definitely choose this one over any India Pale Ale but, to be honest, I tend to avoid this latter style of beer anyway...
